It's January 2, 2012. It's been quite a while since I have updated my blog. Let me sum up what has happened in the past couple of years:
As all of you may or may not know this about me, when I was about 19 years old, I had a baby out of wedlock. At the time, of course, I was unmarried, young, and still living at home. After much thought and prayer, I felt it best to give my child up for adoption. On January 18, 1989, I gave birth to a beautiful baby boy. He was born a month early because I had to be hospitalized for Toxemia, which put my baby and myself in danger of possible death. I was induced, and gave birth.
It was agreed that he would remain in the family (my Aunt and Uncle adopted him - they live in Washington State), but that I would stay out of his life so that he could grow up and thrive with his family. This was a great, painful challenge for me, as the rest of my family were able to witness him growing up in person, but I was not. . . mostly because I needed to separate myself (for my own sanity), and because of the agreement.
Now fast forward to April 2010. . . my boy is 21 years old. He has grown up to be a wonderful, handsome, accomplished young man. He is an Eagle Scout and a returned missionary. He returned from his mission, shortly thereafter, I received a call from my Aunt (his mom). . . he had expressed a desire to meet me. I have always been open to meeting him one day, I knew one day it would happen. . . so, it was arranged. Before his parents drove him up to BYU-ID to start his first semester, they stopped in Utah and we were reunited.
We have a very close relationship which I cherish with all my heart. He comes to visit me whenever possible, usually during Conference weekend every 6 months.
Now, he is living with me on his off track from BYU-ID...what a great time! I'm looking forward to a lot of bonding time with him.
